Dear Friend,

I never imagined that the pain I once tried so hard to hide would one day become the very foundation of a ministry that brings hope to others. Breaking Free Ministry was born out of the darkest chapters of my life—years marked by abuse, loss, rejection, and deep spiritual brokenness.

Though I grew up in a loving Christian home and gave my heart to Christ at a young age, I later found myself trapped in a destructive marriage. I endured years of emotional, spiritual, and physical abuse in silence, too ashamed to ask for help. I believed the lie that I wasn’t enough—unworthy of love, ministry, or even God’s grace. After I finally escaped, I buried myself in work and achievements, trying to prove my worth.

But God never stopped pursuing me.

Over time, through divine encounters  with mentors and leaders and the healing love of Jesus, I came to understand that my identity is not rooted in what I’ve been through, but in who I am in Christ. I saw that my brokenness didn’t disqualify me from ministry—it prepared me for it.

In 2016, in the midst of my healing, I heard the Lord say, “Then do it.” When I asked what He meant, He responded, “Create a safe place.” That was the moment Breaking Free Ministry came to life.

Through the EmpowerHer Resource Center, we now offer mentorship, job preparation, life skills, and spiritual support to women of all ages who are overcoming trauma, addiction, and life’s hardest seasons. This work is deeply personal. I’ve walked that road. And I want every woman who enters our doors—physically or digitally—to know: you are not alone. You are deeply loved. You are enough.

Thank you for walking with us in this mission of restoration and renewal.

With hope,
Jeanie Lemaster, RN
Executive Director, Breaking Free Ministry

Our Journey

2016 — Outreach Program Launch
Breaking Free Ministry began as an outreach effort, providing immediate support, emergency shelter, and faith-based guidance for women escaping crisis situations.
2018 — Long-Term Residential Program Established
Seeing the need for deeper, sustained healing, we expanded into a full-time residential recovery program, offering a structured, Christ-centered environment for rebuilding lives.
2019–2023 — Building a Foundation of Success
Through holistic care, life skills training, workforce preparation, and spiritual development, we served dozens of women, achieving a 72% sustained success rate in long-term recovery and independence.
2024 — Expanding Digital Access
Recognizing the need to reach more women, we began developing learning modules and planned to provide a digital presence to offer flexible, on-demand support and training.
2025 — EmpowerHer Resource and Development Center Launch
Transitioning into a two-fold ministry, we began developing an online learning platform, supported by an in-kind website grant by the Gadfly Project to increase access to training, resources,  offering both community-based classes and a robust online Resource Center, providing women with tools for personal growth, workforce readiness, and spiritual renewal—wherever they are in their journey.

Community Impact

At Breaking Free Ministry, every woman we serve becomes a ripple of change in her home, workplace, and community. Through mentorship, job training, and life skills, we’re not just helping women survive — we’re helping them rebuild, rise, and give back. From single moms finding employment to women leading in their churches and neighborhoods, the impact echoes far beyond our walls.
As we look to the future, we see a community transformed — not just for today, but for generations to come. That’s why our long-term vision includes the development of a youth-focused community center. This space will be a safe haven for young people to discover their identity, find strong mentors, and grow into confident, purpose-filled leaders.
For many of us, our early years were shaped by pain, silence, or instability. We want something different for the next generation — a place where youth are seen, known, and empowered to break cycles before they begin.
